Still unsure on whether surgery is the best option for you?
to discuss treatment options with a podiatrist.
At Foot Focus Podiatry we can treat any of your ingrown toenail concerns. If an ingrown nail has occurred, all conservative measures will be trialled first by one of our expert podiatrists.
Nail surgery is an option should conservative measures not provide adequate long term relief. Either one of our podiatrists, or Reza Naraghi (podiatric surgeon) who attends Foot Focus, can perform nail surgery.

Things to note
- Most ingrown nail procedures are done in our rooms with the use of local anaesthetic with or without sedation.
You will be able to walk immediately after the surgery.
You may be required to take a course of antibiotics prior to your procedure and or post procedure.
With all of the procedures above you are not to drive any machinery for 24-48 hours. You may drive after 24 hours so long you are not taking any medication that can cause drowsiness and upon the advice of your surgeon.
The type of footwear immediately after surgery might be limited. E.g. Work boots, sports shoes, etc.
Soaking your foot in warm water prior to surgery and cleaning any dirt from the infected area is essential prior to surgery.
It is best to avoid strenuous activity or exercise immediately after surgery, until recommended by your podiatrist. Mild pain relief (panadol) if any is generally only needed after surgery.
The procedure will be done under local anaesthetic. This will require an injection on either side of your toe to ensure total numbness.
